Fernando Carranza serves as the Fellow Director of the IHCC/1871 Latinx Incubator, where he drives and supports the management, development, and integration of Cohort 4, an integral piece in the creation of a sustainable Latinx Startup Ecosystem.
As a second generation Mexican-American with entrepreneurial parents, he is focused on what matters to him most: remedying socio-economic inequalities within underrepresented communities through increased access to capital and impact-driven investments. Prior to joining IHCC, Fernando worked in the investment banking industry as a Senior Associate at Société Générale, focused on the Diversified Industrials and Healthcare sectors. He started his career as an Analyst within Global Industrial Markets at KPMG Corporate Finance LLC. He has advised numerous clients on cross-border transactions in the EMEA, LATAM and U.S. regions on debt and equity financing options; various credit facility structures; and buy / sell-side mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
Fernando received his Bachelor of Science in Finance from the Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2012 and holds the Series 63 and Series 79 licenses. He is an avid mountaineer, a triathlete, enjoys snowcat skiing, and loves sampling foreign cuisines by way of international travel destinations.
