October is Women’s Small Business Month, a celebration of women entrepreneurs and the contributions their organizations have made across the country. According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, there are 11.3 million women-owned businesses across the country, 1.9 million of which are owned by Latinas.
Women are starting businesses five times faster than the national average since 2007, which means that 1,000 new women-owned businesses are started every day! Illinois is in the top five states with the highest percentage of women-owned firms, along with Washington D.C., Georgia, Maryland and New Mexico.
This October, IHCC would like to recognize the women-owned businesses that are part of our community of passionate entrepreneurs. Throughout the month, we will be recognizing some of our women-owned business members on our social media channels and the IHCC blog. Stay tuned for the first post later this week!
